Program Initiatives:

The Today Foundation has accomplished many objectives. Below are examples of our projects and achievements.

The Today Foundation has accomplished many of our initiatives with the assistance of community leaders across Dallas and the State of Texas. 

Awarded Children’s Education Fund (CEF) over $8 million in tuition assistance to low- income families to support opportunities for 7,000 children to receive a quality education. 

Developed a powerful communications campaign to help DISD and area schools fight Cheese Heroin.

Beginning in 2001, the foundation provided leadership to develop and implement the ‘Character Counts’ program in all Dallas Independent School District schools.

Awarded grants to more than 25 schools in Texas in recognition of their effective Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention programs.

In partnership with Southern Methodist University, TF hosted several forums on diverse topics such as Investment Opportunities, Early Childhood Education and Education Reform, as well Energy and Conservation.

Donated computer-adaptive reading program(s) to several Dallas Independent School District (DISD) schools including Botelo and M.L. Carr elementary schools; Boude Storey Middle School and the Readers 2 Leaders West Dallas After-School Program.

Partnered with CHASE BANK to provide computer-adaptive reading program(s) to 16 Texas schools and the Jubilee Community Center in Dallas, Texas.

Created the Texas Leadership Forum (TLF) with Congressman Pete Sessions to provide leadership and character training to select Dallas-area high school seniors.

Sponsored the American Leaders Institute (ALI) in Washington, D.C. each summer for 15 Dallas-area college freshmen to visit the nation’s capital to observe the ‘workings of Congress’ and our democratic institutions.

Launched an ongoing capital campaign for the Union Baptist Church in Jefferson, TX to restore one of Texas’ oldest churches and honor the East Texas ‘roots’ of the African American community.

Created the Collins Academy in Jefferson, TX to support rural economic development through an educated work-force.

Partnered with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the City of Jefferson, TX to create the Port Jefferson Art, History & Nature Center, a 50-acre environmental park on the Big Cypress Bayou adjacent to the Jefferson Historic District.

Partners with Tackle Tomorrow and NFL Hall of Fame inductee, Charles Haley to provide outstanding instruction to Dallas schools.
